Last Round Donington
The final rounds of a tough season for us, one glimpse of success, so far, hopefully this weekend would bring us some more.
Saturday Qualifying was wet, definitely Luke's type of weather. Luke quickly setting quick times, sitting nicely in the top 3, then on his quick lap came across too much traffic, which was a shame, he would have been a second up on everyone to claim his first Pole, but had to settle for 6th. Still not a bad start to the weekend.
Race 1 - Sunday was dry, which was also a shame, but not a problem. Just as Luke was waiting in the collection area, his brake bias cable stopped working, quickly the team managed to lock it into place.
Luke made a great start moving into 3rd place, as they were racing along the back straight his brakes locked temporally, he got them free and carried on, but now was in 14th place. He then drove like a demon over taking car after car, catching and passing cars on every lap, a fantastic drive saw him get into 6th, stunning stuff. The we found out that the top 7 would be reversed for race 2, fantastic, we would be on the front row in P2. Then as usual we got kicked right where it hurts as Luke received a 5 second penalty for circuit Limits, this pushed us back into 12th place, so disappointed.
Race 2 - We now had the brake bias cable fixed and looked forward to the race, hoping for more of the same racing. Off onto the warm up lap, then just as the cars filed back onto the grid Luke dived back into the pit lane, as he went onto full throttle, the brakes came on, the bias cable was trapped by the brake pedal, by the time the team had sorted this, the grid had already gone, and so had any chance of a podium. He finished the race and even caught and passed a few cars. Another disappointing weekend, totally outside of our control.
A massive thank you to all of you that have supported us during the season.
