Tony Smith - Eager Eddie

On lap two of the Japanese Grand Prix Eddie Irvine swept past Hakkinen and Schumacher in one go. On lap three he closed in on the race leader Villeneuve as they approached the chicane and swept past the Williams driver then pulled away from the pack. Irvine led most of the race before moving over to let team leader Michael Schumacher take the win.
