Maurice Trintignant in the Ferrari 625 leads Villoresi's Lancia D50 as they climb the Montee du Beau Rivage, lapping the Gordini of Pollet. After the much vaunted Mercedes team succumbed to mechanical problems and following Ascari's much publicised excursion into the harbour, it was left to the popular French driver to take a lucky victory for the Prancing Horse.
